There’s this new boutique you’ve been hearing about, seeing social media posts for, and you’ve even made it here, to the website and dug around long enough to find our blog – welcome! So, who is Albany and Avers and where did they come from?
Great question. Albany and Avers is a new women’s e-commerce and pop up retailer based in Chicago, ready to meet you and shop with you!
Owned and operated by Amanda Tjarks, Albany and Avers is a long-awaited pipedream of Amanda’s that finally comes to fruition in 2019. After living years with the limiting belief that this dream was too big and too far-fetched, Amanda held various marketing positions around the city of Chicago. The more she did and the harder she worked, the more she realized her love and need of entrepreneurship.
Owning a retail boutique has been in the back of Amanda’s mind since the age of 8, and in late 2018 her and her husband sat down to discuss their goals of the upcoming year. This is when Amanda decided to go for it.
Albany and Avers represents Amanda’s life in Chicago. Since moving here in fall of 2013, Amanda first lived in Albany Ave., then moving with her husband to Avers Ave., and now back to their current home on Albany – coming around full circle. This coincides with her love of vintage fashion and marrying it with modern, trendy fashion to create a unique style. This play on words aligns with the belief that all style trends come back around.
On the Albany side of the company, you’ll find vintage pieces that were created a different lifetime ago, with different fabrics and silhouettes that we’re seeing come back around in a different light.
On the Avers side, you’ll find the newest trends from some of the top retailers sourced from markets in Chicago and Los Angeles.
Many of our styles accompany each other to create a unique style mixed with modern and vintage.
